What is Qi Gong?
The Cleveland Clinic describes Qi gong (Wu Qin Xi) as a practice that “uses simple poses and breathing patterns to promote a healthy flow and reduce stagnation of qi. Proper flow of qi can help the body engage its own healing processes. The literal translation of qigong is “to work with qi.”
Our Practice: The Wudang 5 Animals Qigong
This form of qi gong incorporates spiritual and physical characteristics of certain animals into Qi Gong practice to promote mental wellness through achieving balance, increasing mobility, aiding respiration, digestion, circulation, spine health, leg strength, emotional balance, clarity, fatigue, anxiety and nervousness. This practice is both energizing and dynamic.
The 5 animals are; dragon, tiger, leopard, snake and crane. Each movement incorporates working both sides of the body which helps unblock meridian channels and loosen areas of contraction and tension. Each animal also relates to one of the five elements and five yin internal organs.
